Semiconducting silaindacenodithiophene polymers have been synthesized and their semiconducting properties reported. These polymers with low-lying LUMO energy levels exhibit excellent ambipolar behavior in field-effect transistors with both hole and electron mobilities of greater than 0.1 cm2/(V s) recorded, with high power-conversion efficiencies of greater than 4% in solar cell devices.
